ABOUT US
Camp of Joy is a ministry of the ten Independent
Baptist Churches in our area (Bihor), all of which are associated in Eastern
European Mission.
We
are dedicated to serving the Lord Jesus Christ through His ministry in Briheni,
Romania. Our goal is to confront campers with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to
disciple them and train them to be true servants of God, all for the glory of
our Master.
Here is a brief HISTORY
of our camp:
In the spring of 1996 John Demmendaal purchased
the first piece of land of our current property, which included what is today
the dinning area and kitchen and also the soccer field, no more than a swamp
back then... It was a start and the Lord blessed greatly!
Next with the financial help of churches and
individuals from Fredericksburg and Rochelle, VA we were able to purchase the
rest of the property needed.
A great help to us was Community Baptist Church
in Carlisle, PA through financial support and the work team that came and
helped build the cabin and recently the bathrooms (a project that has almost
reached its completion).
With the aid of Adopt-A-Church International we
were able to raise the gym, extend the dinning room and purchase a second
generator for our camp. They have also sent maintenance items.
Financial help came from another part of the world also: Katwijk,
Holland. HOE Foundation and Mrs. de Graaf have given money faithfully to help
us keep the costs low, this creating the opportunity for virtually anyone to come to our camp (this year the
cost will be approximately $25 for 5 days).
We want to thank all of these people for their
love and care demonstrated through their actions. You have made the existence
of our camp possible. God bless you all!
